Changes to the LEZ from the New Year

From January 1, 2026, in accordance with the schedule adopted when the zone was introduced in 2024, the group of vehicles prohibited from entering the Warsaw Low Emission zone (LEZ) has expanded.

From the New Year, vehicles manufactured before 2000 (i.e., the maximum vehicle age in the year of implementation is 26 years); or those not meeting the Euro 3 standard – in the case of gasoline vehicles – will be prohibited from entering the LEZ, as will those manufactured before 2009 or those not meeting the Euro 5 standard – in the case of diesel vehicles (i.e., the maximum vehicle age in the year of implementation is 17 years). For residents paying taxes in the capital, there will be no changes until the end of 2027. The zone boundaries also remain unchanged.

Unauthorized entry into the LEZ carries a fine of up to 500 PLN. The legality of entry into the zone is verified by the Municipal Police based on data from the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers.
