null Items lost in Warsaw – where to look and how to collect them?
The Warsaw Lost Property Office was established 73 years ago by the National Council of the Capital City of Warsaw. In 2025 alone, it accepted 14,000 items for safekeeping, similar to the previous year. Warsaw residents mainly lost documents, phones, watches, and electronic devices.
The office staff are looking for the owners of the items and trying to identify them. They call the phone numbers found on business cards left in briefcases and documents, as well as the last numbers dialed on found phones, or contact them by email (if possible and the device has not been blocked). In the case of blocked phones, the information is forwarded to the appropriate cellular operator.
Where to look for lost items?
Announcements about lost items are published, among others, in the Public Information Bulletin, on the Lost Property Office notice board, and on the Electronic Notice Board (ETO) of the City of Warsaw. Information about the Office's opening hours and contact details are available on the website.
How to collect lost items?
To collect lost items from the municipal office at 15 Dzielna St., you must present proof of purchase or another document certifying ownership. When this is not possible (e.g., in the case of a wedding ring, watch, or ring), it will be necessary to describe the lost item in detail, specify its distinctive features, and indicate the circumstances and potential place of loss.
Items are stored for two years from the date of discovery. After this period, ownership passes to the finder, provided that they collect the item within the specified time limit.
If the items are not collected, they become the property of the finder pursuant to Article 19(1) of the Act on Lost Property of the Capital City of Warsaw.
