On Wednesday, August 15, parade for the Armed Forces Day of Poland and the 98th Anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw will go down Wisłostrada. Central artery of Warsaw will be closed down to traffic in a few kilometer stretch. The show will be preceded by a trial parade this weekend.
This year’s parade will be a real great military show of the Polish Army thus for almost two days traffic will be excluded from Wisłostrada between Grota-Roweckiego and Łazienkowski bridges, which will be temporary closed for pedestrians and bikers as well as a dozen streets connecting with Wisłostrada.
Parade on Wisłostrada
First traffic disruptions will occur at night from Saturday to Sunday, August 11 and 12, during the trial ceremony between 2am and 11am, but training marching will start at 6am. Main parade of pedestrian and horse units and military vehicles will start on Wednesday, August 15 at 1pm, but traffic shutdowns will take place ealier.
From Saturday, August 11 from 11pm to Sunday, August 12 to 11am and from Tuesday, August 14 from 11pm to Wednesday, August 15 to 5pm, following streets will be closed:
- Wisłostrada ( streets Wybrzeże Gdyńskie and Wybrzeże Gdańskie) section from Grota-Roweckiego bridge to R. Sanguszki St. ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense) drivers going from Łomianki should turn to AK route or to Grota-Roweckiego brigde (no exit to Centrum),
- Z. Krasińskiego St. from S. Czarnieckiego St. do Wisłostrada (from Gwiaździsta St. the only turning to Wilsona Sq.; passages for pedestrians and bikers on Krasińskiego St. and Wisłostrada junction will be closed),
- R. Krajewskiego St. from Zakroczymska St. to Wisłostrada ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense),
- Wenedów St. from Zakroczymska St. to Wisłostrada ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense ;passages for pedestrians and bikers to Wisłostrada at Wenedów St. will be closed)
On Sunday, August 11 from 2am to 11am and from Tuesday, August 14 from 11pm to Wednesday , August 15 to 5pm, following streets will be closed:
- Wisłostrada (streets: Wybrzeże Gdańskie, Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie, Wioślarska and Solec) from R. Sanguszki St. to Łazienkowska St. ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense; no entry to Wisłostrada from Śląsko-Dąbrowski, Poniatowskiego and Łazienkowski bridges and from Łazienkowska Route; from Czerniakowska St. the only turning to Łazienkowska Route going to Centrum or to Łazienkowski bridge)
- R. Sanguszki St. from Zakroczymska St. to Wisłostrada ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense),
- Boleść St. from Bugaj St. to Wisłostrada (parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense – on August 15 only),
- Mostowa St. from Bugaj St. to Freta St. ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense – on August 15 only),
- Wodna St. and P.A. Steinkellera St.
- Grodzka St. from „Solidarności”Ave to Wisłostrada ( on August 15, car park under Śląsko-Dąbrowski bridge between Grodzka and Nowy Zjazd streets will be closed)
- Nowy Zjazd St. from „Solidarności” Ave to Wisłostrada,
- Karowa St. from Browarna St. to Wisłostrada ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense – on August 15 only)
- Lipowa St. from Browarna St. to Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie St. ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense )
- Dobra St. from Karowa to Lipowej St.( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense – on August 15 only)
- Ludna St. from Solec St. to Wisłostrada,
- Wilanowska St. from Czerniakowska St. to Wisłostrada,
- Górnośląska St. from od Czerniakowska St. to Wisłostrada,
- Czerniakowska St. (road to Wilanów) from Łazienkowska St. to J. Gagarina St. (closed inlets to streets: Łazienkowska, Szwoleżerów, 29 Listopada, T. Suligowskiego, Nowosielecka and T. Hołówki and passage for pedestrians through Wisłostrada at the height of Łazienkowska St.)
During the ceremony police and state services may exclude traffic on other street.
Moreover, from Sunday, August 12 from 9am to Thursday, August 16 to 6am right lane of Wisłostrada to Wilanów from Sanguszki St. to Boleść St. as well as pavement and bike path at the height of Multimedia Fontain Park will be closed, and from 10pm to 6am left lane of Wisłostrada to Bielany in section Śląsko-Dąbrowski and Gdański bridges will be excluded from traffic.
From Tuesday, August 14 from 11pm to Wednesday to 5pm street Wiślana and Gęsta from Browarna St. and Dobra St. will be closed ( parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense ).
Moreover, on August 12 and 15 from 1.20pm and 2pm traffic on Gdański and Śląsko-Dąbrowski bridges will be totally excluded.
On Sunday, August 12 from 3am to 11am and on Wednesday from 8am to 3pm the bottom level of Gdański will be closed for pedestrians and bikers.
On Wednesday, August 15 will be closed for pedestrians and bikers:
- Śląsko-Dąbrowski bridge between 11am and 3pm
- Świętokrzyski bridge and Wybrzeże Szczecińskie St. ( from the bridge to R. Siwca St.) between 3pm to 4pm
Broadcasting vehicles will park on the east side of Wisłostrada thus pavement and bike path between streets Sanguszki and Wenedów will be closed. Pedestrian and bikers will be directed to the Vistula Boulevards.
Celebrations on Marshal Piłsudski Sq.
From Friday, August 10 from 4am to Thursday, August 16 to 10pm Ossolińskich St. in front of Marshal Piłsudski Sq.will be closed.
From Wednesday, August 15 from 4am to Thursday, August 16 to 4am parking ban with information that any vehicle parked is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense will operate on:
- Teatralny Sq.,
- gen. M. Tokarzewskiego-Karaszewicza St.,
- Ossolińskich St.,
- S. Małachowski Sq.,
- W. Niżyński passage,
- Królewska from Krakowskie Przedmieście St. to Marszałkowska St.
In the same time traffic ban will be introduced on:
- Marshal J. Piłsudski Sq.,
- Wierzbowa St. on the road from behind the Great Theatre-National Opera to the square,
- Królewska St. from the square to Marszałkowska St.
There will be no exit from S. Małachowski Sq. and W. Niżyński passage to Królewska St. (exit only to Kredytowej St.) and from streets gen. M. Tokarzewskiego-Karaszewicza i Ossolińskich on Marshal J. Piłsudski Sq. (entry and exit from Krakowskie Przedmiescie St.).
