null Eco-friendly P&R facilities
Eco cards for the users of electric cars and the possibility of free charging, free parking spaces for bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles – these are the main changes included in the new Regulations for the Park & Ride Facilities adopted by the Warsaw City Council.
The councillors decided that there would be no fees charged for parking single-track vehicles at the P&R facilities. It will also be possible to leave them during the night, including the maintenance break (between 2:31 a.m. and 4:29 a.m.). In addition, the users of electric vehicles have obtained the possibility to park their cars during the night – the so-called 'Eco Cards' were introduced in the new Regulations. The cards will be issued on a first-come first-served basis. The number of cards will be determined on the basis of the total number of parking spaces at a car park and their use during the day.
The Park & Ride facilities provide the possibility to charge electric cars for free (during the night only with Eco cards). New charging stations will be installed gradually, and the first one will be placed in the Metro Młociny I P&R facility. It will house two stations, where four electric cars can be charged simultaneously. The new Regulations also include a provision stipulating that parking fees are to be charged after 20 minutes from entering the car park. Thanks to this, drivers will not be required to pay for the time spent looking for a parking space, and the facilities can also serve as Kiss & Ride zones (K&R).
The first P&R facility, located near the Marymont Metro, was opened over 10 years ago (11 April 2007). There are currently 14 Park & Ride facilities operating in 9 districts.
