Free Microchipping and Neutering of Dogs and Cats in Warsaw – 2026 Edition of the Program

The Capital City of Warsaw launched another edition of its free neutering and electronic tagging program for dogs and cats, implemented as part of the "Program for the Care of Homeless Animals and the Prevention of Animal Homelessness in the Capital City of Warsaw."

Microchipping (electronic tagging) is an excellent method of preventing animal homelessness, allowing for the quick identification of its owner in the event of a missing animal. The electronic chip, encoded with a unique number, is the size of a grain of rice, does not disturb the animal, and does not cause allergic reactions. A special reader can read the chip number and, after checking it against an electronic database, obtain information about the owner. Electronic tagging is required for traveling with a pet within the European Union.

Dog and cat owners residing in the Capital City of Warsaw can take advantage of the opportunity to have their pets microchipped free of charge at one of the selected veterinary clinics (regardless of their district of residence).

Neutering is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia. It is a safer method of preventing uncontrolled reproduction than the use of hormonal agents, which can cause serious side effects.

The campaign will run until December 31, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
