Previous waste fee rates will return from April

A temporary reduction in waste management fees, introduced in October 2024, is in effect until March 31, 2026. This was a temporary reduction, made possible by a surplus in the city budget for municipal waste management and lower waste collection costs.

Currently, waste collection costs are rising significantly, with the average price per ton of collected waste being 40% higher than in previous years. Therefore, starting in April, the rates before the reduction will be restored.

By law, all revenue from waste fees is allocated exclusively to the operation of the municipal waste management system – local governments cannot profit from waste.

On April 1, 2026, the rates from before the temporary reduction will return, and their amount depends on the type of building:

  • for a household in a multi-unit building – PLN 85;
  • for a household in a single-family building – PLN 107.

Residents of single-family homes who compost bio-waste in a home compost bin can still count on a 9 PLN fee discount.

Waste sorting remains unchanged

The rules for waste sorting will remain unchanged. Residents who fail to do so or who sort incorrectly will face double the waste management fees.
