If you are a foreigner temporarily living in Poland, you need to register your residence. Find out how to do it.

1. Fill out the temporary residence application form.
2. Submit the form and the required documents to the office. You can do this in several ways. Detailed information can be found in the Submission and Collection Point section.
3. If your application is successful, you will be registered for temporary residence.
4. If you wish to obtain a registration certificate, you must submit an application for one from the Register of Residents of the City of Warsaw. To find out how to do this, read the information sheet Issuing a certificate from the Register of Residents of the City of Warsaw.

1. Temporary residence application form.
   [!] You are required to prepare a separate application for each person registering, including a child.
2. If you are a citizen of a Member State of the European Union (EU) or of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) or a citizen of the Swiss Confederation – you will have to present a valid travel document or other valid document that confirms your identity and citizenship.
3. If you are a family member of a citizen of an EU or EFTA Member State or of the Swiss Confederation you will have to present:
   • a travel document,
   • one of the following documents:
     • a valid permanent residence card of a family member of an EU citizen,
     • a valid residence card of a family member of an EU citizen,
     • another document confirming that you are a family member of an EU citizen.
4. If you are a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, you will have to present:
   • a travel document,
   • one of the following documents:
     • a certificate confirming registration of stay, 
     • a valid document confirming the right of permanent residence in Poland.
5. If you are a family member of a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, you will have to present:
   • a travel document,
   • one of the following documents:
     • a valid residence card,
     • a valid permanent residence card.
6. If you are not a citizen of an EU or EFTA member state  or of the Swiss Confederation and you are not a family member of a citizen of such a state and you entered Poland on a visa – you will have to present:
   • a travel document,
   • a visa on the basis of which you are legally residing in Poland.
7. If you are not a citizen of an EU or EFTA Member State or the Swiss Confederation and you are not a family member of a citizen of such a state and:
   1. you are staying in Poland under a visa-free regime – you will have to present:
      • a travel document
   2. you are staying in Poland on the basis of a stamp placed in your travel document that confirms your application for a temporary residence permit, permanent residence permit or long-term residence permit in the Republic of Poland – you will have to present:
      • a travel document,
      • one of the following documents:
      • a temporary certificate of identity of the foreign national,
      • a residence card,
      • a permit for tolerated stay,
      • a temporary residence permit,
      • a permanent residence permit,
      • a residence permit for a long-term resident of the EU,
      • a decision on granting refugee status in Poland, on granting subsidiary protection in Poland, a residence permit for humanitarian reasons or a permit for tolerated stay.
8. If you are the owner of premises where you want to register or have another legal title to the premises e.g. you own it or have a tenancy agreement – you will need to present one of these documents for confirmation, e.g.:
   • a civil law contract,
   • an extract from the land and mortgage register,
   • an administrative decision,
   • a court decision.
9. If you are not the owner and do not have any other legal title to the premises where you wish to be registered, bring a document that confirms the owner's or other entity's legal title to the premises for review.
   [!] In the temporary residence registration form (item 6 of the application), the owner or other party who has legal title to the premises must confirm that you are staying at the property.
10. If you are registering another person you must also present these documents for review:
    • a document which confirms that you can act on their behalf (e.g. a power of attorney, a court order establishing custody),
    • your identity document, e.g. an identity card or passport.

There is no fee for temporary residence registration. 
Possible additional charges: 
PLN 17  – stamp duty for issuing the certificate of temporary residence registration.
You can pay the fee: 

1. at the district office cash desk
2. at the fee machine – if one is available at the place where you submit the application
3. via a bank transfer to the account:

In the title of the transfer, state what you are paying for, e.g. fee for issuing a registration certificate for [enter person's name].

1. Submit in person at any Administration & Resident Services Department of the City of Warsaw. 
2. Via the website www.gov.pl.

I'm submitting the application in person:

1. Download and fill out the temporary residence application form.
2. Go to any Administration & Resident Services Department of the City of Warsaw and submit a signed application along with the necessary documents.
3. Once your documents have been reviewed and your application has been successful, you will be registered. 
4. Collect your temporary residence registration certificate.

[!] If you wish to apply in person at the office, you can book an appointment via the appointment booking system.
I am submitting my application online:
[!] If you are not a citizen of an EU or EFTA Member State or a family member of such a citizen, you do not have the option of registering online. You must show the documents confirming your right to stay in Poland at the office.
If you want to register online, you need a trusted profile, a qualified electronic signature certificate or an electronic ID card. 

1. Go to www.gov.pl 
2. Click on the Register button.
3. The system will take you to the Trusted Profile page. Log into your account.
4. Fill out the form. 
5. Verify and sign the application. You will receive a confirmation of your submission to your ePUAP mailbox. 

[!] If you are listed in the land and mortgage register and the entered address of the property matches the entry, the system will register you automatically. 

Administration & Resident Services Department of the City of Warsaw

We will process your application promptly.

You cannot appeal in this case.

1. If you are changing your place of temporary residence, you are not required to de-register from the previous place of temporary residence. Once you declare a new place of temporary residence, you will automatically be de-registered from your previous temporary residence address.
2. A temporary residence registration certificate is valid until the place of registration changes, but no longer than until the expiry of the registration. 
3. You do not need to register if your stay in Poland will not last longer than 30 days, e.g. if you are on holiday in Poland.
4. If you are a citizen of an EU or EFTA Member State or a citizen of the Swiss Confederation or a family member of such a foreign national residing in Poland, you must register at the place of temporary residence no later than within 30 days. This time frame is counted from the day you arrive at this place. 
5. If you are neither a citizen of an EU, EFTA Member State or the Swiss Confederation nor a family member of a citizen of one of these states, you must register at the place of temporary residence on day 4 at the latest. This time frame is counted from the day of your arrival at this location.
6. If you are neither a citizen of an EU, EFTA Member State or the Swiss Confederation nor a family member of a citizen of one of these states, your declared period of residence at a particular address may not exceed the period for which you may legally reside in Poland.
